Bailey Lampey joined Millennium in 2016, seeking a new professional challenge. The opportunity to work here came to her after she had completed some contract work for Millennium. With a limited background in controls or wiring, this turned out to be a great opportunity because she really enjoyed the new more challenging work, compared to her previous job in a manufacturing company, which was building very basic control panels.
Of course, joining a new team is an adjustment, but new challenges are also exciting – but the colleagues at Millennium quickly dissipated that nervousness, and soon, she felt that she was exactly where she wanted to be. “I was very excited to start at MCS because of the opportunities that were available, and the team that I was joining”, she says.
After about two years of working in the shop, Bailey had a desire to advance and with a great attitude in overcoming challenges, Bailey was offered the chance to start in the design department despite experience in design work. Millennium gave her this opportunity without hesitation, training her as a designer from scratch. This, she says, is a testament to Millennium's core idea: They want their employees to seize every opportunity for growth. If you want to grow, talk to your supervisors; they are interested in your success, and they will make it possible. Of course, you will make mistakes occasionally but this is a valuable skill, because you will have to use your brain, get challenged, and learn.

How does a typical workday at Millennium look for her, then?
She will take the engineers’ drafts, design the panels, interface with purchasing order the parts, interface with manufacturing and approve quality, oversee the work, and the list goes on. “Other days, I’m running around like a mad woman trying to complete inspections, answer questions, and find solutions to problems”, she laughs.
Her favorite part is working with the manufacturing department and the hybrid aspect of her job.
She likes to move around and not stay in one spot all day. She is also keen to see how something she has designed is turned into reality – her creations, in a way.

Nature and Music
Bailey has lived in northeastern Ohio her whole life, and she loves outdoor activities and exploring, especially when hiking in the great outdoors. She also loves camping: the fresh air, the feeling of freedom, and because she can take her dogs on the adventures. “It can be spooky at night sometimes, hearing all those wild animals around you,” she laughs. But she still loves it: randomly stopping in a national park, setting up your tent for the night, maybe with a bunch of people who all bring their different equipment – a bit of dirt, a lot of fun.
At some point, she dreams of traveling internationally or even moving out of Ohio to one of the mountain states. She is taking small steps for now, but that fits her lifestyle for now.
For the time being, she is happy where she is: in a big house with her two dogs. But she also makes time for another favorite hobby: going to music concerts. Bailey has a great love of music and especially live events. She loves seeing the talented musicians up close and in person , as well as the great feeling and energy of the crowds.
Be Ready for Anything
What would she tell someone who is thinking about joining the company?. Bailey is convinced that you can flourish here; it is a great team environment, and you just have to be ready for anything and always be open to trying out new things and tackling new tasks. Bailey has recommended the company many people; and she recommended it to her sister Gleen who joined the company in the procurement department and also become a valuable team member.
“If you see something that is a problem or identify an opportunity to make an improvement, speak up, try to change the situation,” she says. “Some people may be hesitant to overstep their boundaries, but I feel that feedback and recommendations are always appreciated.” She adds, “Be willing to speak up, contribute, and learn.” Ultimately, it is about your mindset and attitude.
